Raipur: Raipur traffic police on Sunday launched a special drive against e-rickshaw drivers for violating traffic rules and causing congestion in the city. Acting on the directives of the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic and Protocol), the two-hour operation from 2 pm to 4 pm resulted in action against 78 drivers for various offences.
These included driving without a licence, wrong-side driving, and parking in no-parking zones. During the drive, police also identified drivers with pending e-challans and ensured immediate payment on the spot.
Authorities stated that the crackdown on erring auto and e-rickshaw drivers will continue to ensure smooth traffic flow in the city.
Appeal to Drivers
Raipur police have appealed to all auto and e-rickshaw drivers to keep their vehicle documents updated and avoid parking in restricted areas or at intersections. Drivers have been cautioned against obstructing traffic at left turns, with police warning of strict action against further violations.
