RAIPUR: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials caught a female head constable red-handed while accepting a bribe of ₹10,000 in Chhattisgarh’s Bastar district on Thursday.
The accused, Pileshwari Sahu, posted at Kodenar Police Station, had demanded the money from Bangalu Yadav, a resident of Kodenar village in Bastanar. Yadav had purchased a tractor for agricultural work and had lent it to Budhram, a resident of Bada Kallur village.
In 2025, a person fell from the tractor trolley on the road and later died during treatment at a hospital. Sahu was investigating the case.
She allegedly demanded ₹10,000 from Yadav to hand over the seizure papers and release the vehicle on interim custody (supurdnama).
Unwilling to pay the bribe, Yadav lodged a complaint with the ACB unit in Jagdalpur. After verifying the complaint, ACB officials laid a trap on 23 July 2026 and caught Sahu red-handed while accepting the bribe amount.
The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has initiated further legal action against Pileshwari Sahu under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
