
Raipur: The Chhattisgarh Kalar Mahasabha District Women’s Wing organised a grand Sawan Mahotsav at Sahastrabahu Bhawan, located behind Minimata College, on Sunday. The programme commenced with the ceremonial lighting of a lamp before the portrait of Lord Sahastrabahu.
Women from across the district were welcomed with a traditional tilak. Participants arrived dressed in green sarees, green bangles, and beautiful mehndi designs, reflecting the festive spirit of the holy month of Sawan.
The celebrations featured cultural performances, folk songs, traditional dance, swing sessions, and several fun competitions. A Lucky Draw was also organised, during which the Sawan Queen was selected. Winners received prizes, while all participants were presented with consolation gifts.
Addressing the gathering, District President Kusum Dansena welcomed the participants and highlighted the importance of celebrating Sawan as a symbol of culture, unity, and community bonding. Vice President Deepti Jaiswal and Secretary Suchita Jaiswal proposed the vote of thanks and appreciated the efforts of all members and office-bearers for making the event a success.
The programme was attended by ward councillors Bhanumati and Chandrakali, along with Vishnu Bai, Kranti Bai, Shyam Bai, Geeta, Vimla, Prabha, Shashikala, Archana, Bindeshwari, Kiran, and several other members.
