Kevradi Dacoity Case: Retired Policeman Revealed as Mastermind

Rs 6 Lakh Looted at Gun and Sword Point, 10 Arrested; Police to Reveal Details Soon

Raipur: A shocking revelation has emerged in the Kevradi dacoity case, where a retired policeman has been identified as the mastermind behind the crime. On March 27, a gang of seven masked dacoits stormed a farmer’s house in Chhattisgarh’s Raipur, looting Rs 6 lakh at gun and sword point. Reports confirm that 10 individuals, including the retired policeman, have been arrested in connection with the case.

The incident occurred in Kevradi village under the Kharoora police station limits. Authorities are expected to disclose full details of the case by this evening.

Terrifying Night for a Farmer’s Family

The dacoity took place at the residence of Radhelal, a farmer. According to him, his wife, mother, daughter, and daughter-in-law were sleeping in different rooms when, around 2 AM, seven masked men broke into the house. The noise woke the family, and moments later, 2-3 dacoits burst into Radhelal’s room, wielding swords, guns, and knives.

Threatening the family with dire consequences, the criminals hurled abuses and ordered them to stay silent. When the family resisted, the dacoits attacked them with swords. Fortunately, they managed to block some of the blows with their hands. The attackers then tied up some family members and ransacked the house, taking cash and jewelry before fleeing with the loot.

Swift Police Action Leads to Arrests

Radhelal immediately alerted the Kharoora police at around 3 AM. Upon receiving the report, the police rushed to the scene with a forensic team. Raipur SSP Lal Umed Singh personally inspected the crime site, accompanied by Additional SP (Crime), DSP (Crime), and CSP (Kotwali).

A sniffer dog was deployed, which traced the scent from Radhelal’s house to Lali Dabri, a location on the outskirts of the village. The trail then led toward the Balodabazar highway, suggesting that the dacoits had escaped towards another district.

Following this lead, police alerted authorities in Balodabazar, Bemetara, and neighboring districts. Several suspects were detained in Balodabazar and Bemetara, leading to a breakthrough in the case. Upon interrogation, the entire robbery plot was uncovered, culminating in the arrest of all 10 accused, including the retired policeman who orchestrated the crime.

With the case nearly solved, police are set to provide further details soon.
