When the Chief Minister was making this announcement, all the people of Khairagarh area were present in the Chief Minister’s residence. In the Khairagarh by-election, the Congress had promised the same in a manifesto. They had promised that the MLA would go to the district within 24 hours of being elected. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel fulfilled this election promise within three hours of getting the certificate. The Congress government has created five new districts in its three-year tenure. In this one Gorella-Pendra-Marwahi has come into existence completely, the remaining five are in the process of being formed. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said, in the last three years, four assembly by-elections have been held in Chhattisgarh. Marwahi and Khairagarh were relatively difficult elections. The organization remained weak in Khairagarh. From 1995 till now, the politics of Khairagarh assembly revolved around Devvrat Singh. Because of this the organization at the lower level was not strong. This time all the office-bearers, ministers, workers have drawn a new line by bridging that weakness with full energy.
On a question related to the defeat of BJP in all the by-elections this time, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said, “Inflation is increasing across the country. Petrol, edible oil, food grains, vegetables, rail-bus fare. Instead of controlling it, the BJP is trying to polarize communities. People are now starting to understand this game of BJP. The expectations with which people brought BJP to power were not fulfilled. Common people are disappointed. Its effect is also visible in the election results.
On a question about BJP’s charge sheet released in the elections, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said, the people of Khairagarh have rejected that alleged charge sheet of the BJP. The BJP was calling this election the semi-final of the 2023 general election. The results have made it clear that the BJP has lost the semi-finals badly and the 2023 election result is going to be the same.
