Rahul rebuked the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for belittling the importance of Adivasis by referring to them as “vanvasis” (forest dwellers). He contended that the term “Adivasi” is revolutionary, symbolizing the true custodians of the nation with a rich heritage deeply rooted in the land. Emphasizing the intrinsic connection between Adivasis and the land, Rahul declared Adivasis as the legitimate proprietors of India’s land, forests, and water. He categorically rejected the usage of the term “vanvasi” by the BJP and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). Rahul Gandhi highlighted the Congress party’s dedication to Adivasi welfare through the enactment of several laws, including the Tribal Bill, the Panchayats (Extension to the Scheduled Areas) Act (PESA), and the Land Acquisition Bill. These laws empower Adivasi Gram Sabhas to make decisions regarding land use and industrial projects. Drawing attention to the close relationship between Prime Minister Modi and industrialist Gautam Adani, Rahul pointed out the controversial iron ore mining project of the Adani Group. He lauded the Congress for canceling the project, respecting the objections raised by Adivasis. Rahul posed a compelling question to Prime Minister Modi, challenging his assertion that there is only one caste in India, that of the poor. He questioned why Modi identifies himself as an OBC (Other Backward Class) if there is only one caste. The Congress leader criticized Prime Minister Modi for unfulfilled promises, such as the claim of depositing 15 lakh rupees in every bank account and the supposed benefits of demonetization and the Goods and Services Tax (GST). Rahul proudly declared that the Congress has gone beyond its promises, exemplified by raising the minimum support price for paddy. He cited an instance where farmers received 2640 rupees per quintal for paddy, surpassing the pledged 2500 rupees. Educational Initiatives: Rahul Gandhi applauded the reopening of 300 schools that had been closed during the BJP’s rule and highlighted projects like the Ruler Industrial Park. He also advocated for teaching Chhattisgarhi alongside English. In these election rallies, Rahul Gandhi passionately championed Adivasi rights and held the ruling BJP accountable for its policies, while outlining the Congress’s initiatives to protect the interests of Adivasis and the people of Chhattisgarh. The speeches resonated with the audience, emphasizing the significance of recognizing and empowering the Adivasi community.
