MP Rahul Gandhi sips Bastar Coffee, appreciates it’s taste , suggests signing MoU of Bastariya Coffee with international coffee brands
Raipur: Member of Parliament Rahul Gandhi, during his day-long visit to Chhattisgarh today had a sip of coffee at the Bastar Coffee Stall set up in the Science College Ground, Raipur. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel was also present with him on this occasion.
MP Rahul Gandhi appreciated the innovation of coffee production taking place in Bastar besides praising the taste of coffee. He also suggested signing the MoU of Bastariya Coffee with renowned International Coffee Brands to Chief Minister Baghel.
It is worth mentioning that coffee is being cultivated in thousands of acres under Darbha, Kakalgur and Dilmili villages of Darbha block of Bastar. With this initiative, the forest dwellers and farmers are earning profit in lakhs. In a year, about 30 to 40 thousand rupees are being earned per acre from the cultivation of coffee. In view of the adaptability of the climate in Bastar, coffee cultivation has been started in about 3 thousand acres. This Bastar Coffee has now started gaining popularity in foreign countries as well. At present it is being exported to 8 countries. With the action plan for the coming 60 years, farmers will get the benefit of it on a large scale.
