Crores of farmers’ compensation money diverted for commission
Raipur:The beneficiary farmers of Raipur division should have received Rs 195 crore in their respective accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) as part of compensation under Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana. But the amount had been transferred to the District Cooperative Bank in connivance with the insurance agencies. Even as the bank was not eligible to distribute the amount, it paid some of the beneficiary farmers and transferred the rest amount to private banks to pocket commission in the form of interest.
Now the CEO Joshi says, “The insurance company had sent Rs 195 crore. We are sending the amount to the farmers.”
When BJP leader Gauri Shankar Shrivas enquired about the matter and asked for the data in the bank, the bank officials tried to avoid and said they will make the data available later.
Meanwhile, Agriculture director Yashwant Kumar has written a letter while disagreeing with the reply of the bank and sought reply.
