CM Baghel announces Rs 50 lakh each for families of victim farmers of Lakhimpur and the journalist

Raipur: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Wednesday announced Rs 50 lakh each for the families of victim farmers and the journalist who died in Lakhimpur Kheri violence on Sunday, October 3. Baghel made this announcement at Lucknow airport on Wednesday as he along with AICC former President Rahul Gandhi, Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi and AICC General Secretary K C Venugopal arrived at the airport on Wednesday afternoon to meet the families of victim farmers  in Lakhimpur Kheri.

However, they were again stopped by the local administration. While the administration wanted them to go in the vehicles arranges by it, Congress leaders did not want any interference from the administration.

Because of this, a situation of controversy arose. Rahul Gandhi refused to go in the vehicle arranged by the police. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on the occasion said that if the administration is allowing them to go, then they will go only in their vehicles and not in any captivity.

After that, all the people sat on dharna inside the airport itself. Later the Congress leaders were allowed to go to Lakhimpur in their car. Chief Minister Baghel told the media that Chhattisgarh is a state of farmers and on behalf of the state government, he is announcing Rs 50 lakh each to the families of farmers and journalists killed in Lakhimpur. Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi also made a similar announcement. The Uttar Pradesh government has already announced Rs 45-45 lakh compensation to all the dead, government jobs to one person from the family.

 

Congress leaders left for Lakhimpur via Sitapur

Former AICC President Rahul Gandhi, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi reported met Priyanka Gandhi and picked her from Sitapur. All of them left will leave for Lakhimpur Kheri.
