Heatwave alert in Chhattisgarh for five days

Raipur: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heatwave alert for specific regions in Central Chhattisgarh for the next five days. Warm-night conditions are expected in isolated areas for the next two days, offering little relief even after sunset.
The South East Central Railway (SECR) has installed a misting system at Platform 1 of the Bilaspur railway station. This system sprays a fine mist of water, helping passengers cope with the severe summer heat.
A trough line remains active from Bihar to Madhya Pradesh, passing through Jharkhand and North Chhattisgarh. Forecasts indicate light rain, thunderstorms, and winds of 40–50 km/h in isolated areas. However, these conditions are unlikely to bring any significant drop in temperature.
Temperatures are expected to remain stable for two days, followed by a rise of 1°C to 2°C over the next three days. Bilaspur recorded the state’s highest temperature at 43.8°C, while Jagdalpur recorded the lowest at 23.3°C.
In Raipur, heatwave and warm-night conditions are expected today, with temperatures likely to touch a maximum of 43°C and a minimum of 30°C.
