Free-of-cost treatment of more than 33.21 lakh people so far under the Mukhyamantri Shahari Slum Swasthya Yojana

Raipur: More than 33 lakh people have been provided free-of-cost treatment under Mukhyamantri Shahari Slum Swasthya Yojana that aims to make quality healthcare accessible to people living in urban slums. The mobile medical units reach the slum communities and treat people free-of-cost.

Under the scheme, 120 mobile medical unit consisting of doctors, paramedical staff, medical equipment, and medicines are reaching the slum areas in the urban zones of the entire state and providing them with proper healthcare facilities. Through the scheme, so far, 7.25 lakh patients have undergone pathology tests and more than 27.66 lakh patients have been provided with free medicines. About 54,578 people amongst the benefitted patients are laborers.

Besides, about 45,111 camps have been set up I  the Slum areas of 169 Urban units and free-of-cost medicines, test, and treatment have been provided. Meanwhile, the first phase of the Mukhyamantri Shahari Slum Swasthya Yojana  had begun on November 1, 2020 to provide healthcare services to people living in slum communities of 14 Nagar Nigam zones of the state.

Under this, 60 mobile medical units had been deployed for reaching the slum communities to provide free-of-cost healthcare and medicines to people. On March 31, 2022, the scheme was extended to the urban administration  regions of the entire state and 60 more mobile medical units were also launched.
