Raipur: The Gare Palma Sector-III coal mine of Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Company Limited (CSPGCL) has received a 5-star rating from the Union Ministry of Coal.
The mine achieved this rating by scoring 92% in the Star Rating Evaluation conducted for the Financial Year 2024-25.
According to the list released by the ministry, Gare Palma Sector-III ranked 20th nationally among 206 Opencast Coal Mines across the country. It also emerged as one of the top-performing mines in the Gare Palma Coalfield.
Subodh Kumar Singh, Chairman of Chhattisgarh State Power Companies, congratulated the officers and staff on the achievement.
Sanjeev Kumar Katiyar, Managing Director of CSPGCL, said the mine had earlier won Seven National Awards during the Annual Coal Mines Safety Fortnight 2025 organised by the Directorate General of Mines Safety (DGMS) under the Union Ministry of Labour and Employment.
The mine has also been securing the First Prize for the past Five Years for compliance with Safety Standards during operations. Katiyar added that the 5-star rating reflects CSPGCL’s focus on Sustainable Development and will inspire the company to set new benchmarks in Coal Mining.
The Union Ministry of Coal evaluates all coal mines in the country across Seven Key Parameters: Mining Operations, Environmental Protection, Adoption of Modern Technology, Economic Performance, Rehabilitation and Resettlement, Worker Welfare, and Safety.
