Durg police arrest 477 in crackdown on gambling networks

RAIPUR: Durg Police have intensified their crackdown on illegal gambling and betting networks in 2026, arresting 477 accused in 120 cases. During the operation, police seized ₹39.29 lakh in cash along with 522 mobile phones, 32 laptops, and 70 vehicles, taking the total value of seized property to over ₹2 crore.
Police have invoked provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) related to organised crime in 21 cases, targeting not only those caught on the spot but also the financial and technological networks behind the illegal operations.
Investigators examined bank accounts, UPI transactions, and digital communication channels to identify the masterminds and financial beneficiaries operating the betting syndicates.
Breakdown of the crackdown
- Gambling: 30 cases, 221 arrests, ₹22.80 lakh cash seized along with 111 mobile phones and 56 vehicles.
- Offline Betting: 65 cases, 155 arrests, ₹9.22 lakh cash seized along with 221 mobile phones, 16 laptops, and 8 vehicles.
- Online Betting: 25 cases, 101 arrests, ₹7.26 lakh cash seized along with 190 mobile phones, 16 laptops, and 6 vehicles.
Overall, the operation resulted in the seizure of ₹39,29,212 in cash, 522 mobile phones, 32 laptops, and 70 vehicles, including cars and motorcycles.
Durg Police have urged citizens to stay away from illegal gambling and betting activities, and to report any information related to organised gambling networks to the nearest police station or the district control room. Officials said strict enforcement under the new criminal laws against financial and organised betting syndicates will continue across the district.
