Raipur: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Tuesday caught an assistant manager of Chhattisgarh State Civil Supplies Corporation Limited red-handed while accepting a bribe of ₹22,000 in Balrampur district.
The accused, Vidyasagar Gopal, who held charge as the in-charge district manager, had allegedly demanded the bribe from a transport contractor to clear pending bills amounting to about ₹11.39 lakh.
The complainant, Shivraj Singh Shahi, a resident of Sati Para in Ambikapur in Surguja district, was executing Doorstep Delivery transport work under Wadrafnagar for the Kharif marketing years 2025-26 and 2026-27.
Gopal demanded a 2 per cent commission on the total pending payment to release the funds. Refusing to pay the bribe, Shahi lodged a complaint with the ACB team in Ambikapur. ACB officials verified the complaint and laid a trap on 29 September 2026, catching Gopal red-handed while accepting ₹22,000 in cash.
The ACB registered a case against Gopal under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 (Amended 2018) and initiated further legal proceedings.
