Chhattisgarh to Begin First Phase of Census 2027 from April 16

Raipur: The Chhattisgarh government will initiate the first phase of Census 2027, focusing on house-listing and housing census, across the state starting April 16. This initial stage aims to record details of every house in the region.

Self-Enumeration Window

The state has scheduled a self-enumeration period from 16 April to 30 April 2026. Residents can voluntarily provide their details through the official online portal.

Upon completion, users will receive a Self-Enumeration (SE) ID, which must be shared with the enumerator during their subsequent visit. This process remains optional.

Door-to-Door Listing

For those who do not opt for self-enumeration, government-appointed enumerators will conduct door-to-door visits from 1 May to 30 May 2026.

These officials will collect data regarding:

  • House status and available amenities
  • Basic household information
  • Detailed records of every residential structure in the area

Data Privacy and Security

The Ministry of Home Affairs has assured the public that all gathered information will remain strictly confidential under the Census Act, 1948.

Data is stored on secured servers using encryption. Official reports will only publish aggregate statistics, ensuring that individual names and addresses are never disclosed.

Furthermore, the data collected during the census cannot be used for tax, police, or investigative purposes.
