Chhattisgarh orders school closure from April 20 due to heatwave

The state government has ordered all schools to remain closed from 20 April 2026 to 15 June 2026 to ensure the safety of students amid rising temperatures.

Following directives from Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and guidance from School Education Minister Gajendra Yadav, the closure applies to all government, private, and grant-in-aid schools across the state.

School Education Minister Gajendra Yadav stated that the decision aims to protect students from the intense heatwave and soaring temperatures recorded in April. Authorities have issued necessary directives to all concerned departments to ensure strict implementation of this order.
