Two youths die of suffocation while cleaning gutter


\Incident at Raipur’s Ashoka Biryani Center; Fear of poisonous gas, journalists assaulted

Two youths died at the Ashoka Biryani Center located on GE Road in Raipur. They were lowered into the gutter for tank cleaning. Initially, there is suspicion of death due to poisonous gas emitted during gutter cleaning. The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of the Telibandha police station in the state capital.
According to the police, the employees became unconscious during gutter cleaning. When they did not emerge for a prolonged period, other employees working in the hotel approached the gutter. There was no response when they called out. Subsequently, some employees descended into the gutter and retrieved both of them.

Upon the arrival of the news at the scene, journalists commenced coverage, and the management of Ashoka Biryani was perturbed by the questions. During this time, journalists were assaulted, and the camera of a private channel’s cameraman was also broken.

The employees immediately informed Dial 112. A police team arrived at the scene, and both sanitation workers were transported to a private hospital in Telibandha. Following examination, the doctors declared both of them dead. The police have sent the bodies for post-mortem.

The police stated that one of the deceased employees, David Sahu (19), was a resident of Khamhariya, Dhamtari. Neelkumar Patel (30) was a resident of Khuntadahra in Janjgir-Champa district. The families of both are being contacted.
