Major clash between Police and Naxalites leaves 18 dead in Bastar ahead of elections, 25 lakh award was declared on his head, also killed

In a significant development in Chhattisgarh, just two days prior to the Lok Sabha elections in Bastar, a fierce confrontation between security forces and Naxal insurgents has reportedly resulted in the deaths of 18 Naxalites. The clash erupted in the Maad area of Kanker district, escalating tensions ahead of the upcoming elections in Bastar.
According to initial reports, security forces encountered fierce resistance from Naxal cadres, leading to intense combat situations. Security personnel have managed to recover the bodies of 10 Naxalites, signaling a significant blow to the extremist group.

However, the official confirmation of casualties is yet to be announced.

SP Indira Kalyan Elesela has confirmed the ongoing skirmish in the Maad area, emphasizing the deployment of additional forces to assist in the evacuation of injured soldiers from the dense jungle terrain.

From the site of the encounter, security forces have seized a cache of weapons, including 7 AK-47 rifles, 3 LMGs, and INSAS rifles, underscoring the intensity of the confrontation.

During the clash, a brave BSF soldier sustained a gunshot wound to the leg, while another soldier suffered minor injuries, highlighting the risks faced by security personnel in the region.

The situation remains tense as security forces continue their efforts to neutralize the Naxal threat and maintain peace and stability in the region amidst heightened security concerns ahead of the elections.
