The Food and Drug Department team raided food outlets operating in Magneto Mall and City Center Mall on Friday night. At KFC in Magneto Mall, reused frying oil was found being used multiple times. Additionally, there was no identification for veg and non-veg items, prompting a notice to be issued.

The team seized approximately 100 liters of reused oil from KFC. During the inspection, the team discovered that the oil used for frying food had already been reused several times. The TPM (Total Polar Material) in the oil was found to be over 30% during the inspection. Officials stated that the maximum permissible limit set by FSSAI is 25%. As a result, a sample of the oil has been collected for further testing. Additionally, a notice was issued due to the lack of veg and non-veg identification at the selling counter.

The team found that veg and non-veg food items were stored in a single freezer at Pizza Hut in City Center Mall. According to regulations, separate freezers should be used for both. Moreover, the shop had not conducted a pest control program by a certified agency, and the employees’ medical check-up reports were not available, leading to a notice being issued for improvements within 14 days.
On Friday, during an inspection at Momos Adda, the Food and Drug Department found 4 kg of expired semolina flour. Additionally, around 25 kg of flour contaminated with dirt was discarded into the dustbin. Samples have been sent for testing. The team instructed the shop to remain closed due to the lack of food registration.
