Singhdeo Appointed as Manifesto Coordinator for 4 Key States
Entrusted with Crafting Congress’ Blueprint for Haryana, J&K, Maharashtra, and Jharkhand
Raipur:
In a major development, former Deputy Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, T.S. Singhdeo, has been appointed as the Manifesto Committee Coordinator for four pivotal states—Jammu & Kashmir, Haryana, Maharashtra, and Jharkhand—set to go to the polls in October. Singhdeo’s appointment underscores his strategic importance to Congress, as he spearheads the party’s manifesto preparation ahead of these critical assembly elections.
Singhdeo’s track record, especially his instrumental role in drafting the 2018 Chhattisgarh manifesto, which led to Congress dethroning the BJP after 15 years, has made him the ideal choice. Under his guidance, Congress promised game-changing reforms, including slashing electricity bills, waiving farmer loans, and ensuring a paddy support price of ₹2,500—proposals that dramatically shifted the political landscape. His manifesto played a central role in Congress winning 68 out of 90 seats.
Joining Singhdeo in this crucial task is Amitabh Dubey, who will also serve as a coordinator for the manifesto committee. Both will work in tandem to ensure that Congress’ vision resonates strongly with voters in these four states.
During the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Singhdeo had been chosen as the national coordinator for Congress’ manifesto efforts, alongside party heavyweights like Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah, Jairam Ramesh, Shashi Tharoor, and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.
The upcoming elections in Jammu & Kashmir, with voting set for September 18, 25, and October 1, will be the region’s first since the abrogation of Article 370 and its first assembly election in a decade. In Haryana, voters will cast their ballots in a single phase on October 1, with results for both states expected on October 4.
