AIIMS Raipur Doctor Accused of Sexual Harassment, Two Junior Doctors Also Allege Misconduct

Raipur
A doctor at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Raipur has been accused of sexual harassment. He is alleged to have inappropriately touched a female patient and two junior female doctors. The victims have filed complaints with AIIMS, where an internal committee reportedly found him guilty.
The victim, a woman suffering from arthritis, has been undergoing treatment at the PMR department of AIIMS since January 2022. She claimed that Dr Amol B Khade, an associate professor, misbehaved with her during a visit to his OPD. She further stated that the doctor inappropriately touched her chest, causing her to stop visiting the PMR department. Efforts to contact the AIIMS public relations officer yielded no response.
The victim alleged that the doctor engaged in private conversations during treatment and made inappropriate comments based on personal information. She requested that the doctor refrain from such behaviour with other women. She filed a complaint on December 10, 2024, demanding action.
Two female doctors have also filed complaints against Dr Khade. The first complaint, filed between May 2024 and September 2024, alleged that Dr. Amol forcefully grabbed the female doctor’s hand within the department, touched her chest and other inappropriate places, and attempted to engage in lewd conversation.
The second female doctor also accused him of harassment. She alleged mental and sexual harassment.
An eight-member internal committee formed by the AIIMS management conducted two investigations and found Dr Khade guilty of sexual harassment. The committee recommended taking action against him. In another investigation, the committee advised the victim to take legal action but did not find him guilty in that specific instance. Dr Amol and the AIIMS public relations officer did not respond to inquiries.
