ACB Charge-sheets Five Officials in Bribery Cases

Raipur: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Chhattisgarh on Monday filed charge sheets against five public servants before special courts in separate bribery cases following trap operations in which all the accused were allegedly caught accepting illegal gratification.

The ACB has charge-sheeted all five accused under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (amended in 2018), according to official releases.

SDO Charge-sheeted for ₹25,000 Bribe

The Ambikapur ACB unit filed a charge sheet before the Special Court, Jashpur against Sanjay Kumar Diwakar, In-charge Sub-Divisional Officer and Assistant Engineer, Rural Engineering Services (RES), Manora block.

The case (Crime No. 31/2026) was registered on the complaint of Ritu Ram Yadav of Karipol village. The complainant alleged that Diwakar demanded ₹25,000 to verify an evaluation report and clear payment for gabion structure works executed under MGNREGS during 2022-23. ACB officials trapped Diwakar while he was allegedly accepting the bribe.

Municipal Clerk Booked in Janjgir-Champa

The Bilaspur ACB unit submitted a charge sheet before the Special Court, Janjgir-Champa against Prakash Jaiswal, a clerk posted at Nawagarh Nagar Panchayat.

Complainant Abdul Wahab alleged that Jaiswal demanded ₹16,000 to release cheques related to municipal infrastructure works. He allegedly accepted ₹6,000 as the first instalment and was later caught while receiving the remaining ₹10,000. The case was registered as Crime No. 12/2026.

Tehsil Clerk Accused of Accepting ₹60,000

The ACB filed a charge sheet before the Special Court, Raigarh against Tularam Patel, a clerk posted at the Nhal tehsil office.

The case (Crime No. 27/2026) was registered on the complaint of Bhanu Pratap Patel of Dhaskamuda village, who alleged that the accused demanded ₹60,000 to rectify revenue records. ACB officials caught Patel during the trap while he was allegedly accepting the bribe.

Patwari Charge-sheeted in Land Records Case

The Raipur ACB unit filed a charge sheet before the Special Court, Bemetara against Omkar Prasad Sonwani, a Patwari posted in Bod village under Saja tehsil.

The case (Crime No. 24/2026) was registered on the complaint of Narottam Sahu, who alleged that Sonwani demanded ₹15,000 for processing a land partition, updating revenue records, and issuing a Rin Pustika (land passbook). The Patwari was caught while allegedly accepting the bribe.

Electrical Division Employee Booked for ₹1 Lakh Demand

The Raipur ACB unit filed a charge sheet before the Special Court, Dhamtari against Lakeshwer Sahu, a Progressman in the office of the Sub-Divisional Officer, Electrical/Mechanical Division No. 2, Gangrel.

The bureau registered Crime No. 29/2026 after Guman Singh of Mechka village, Nagri tehsil, alleged that Sahu demanded ₹1 lakh to process his gratuity payment. ACB officials laid a trap and caught Sahu while he was allegedly accepting the bribe.
