
Court sends him to 12-day ED custody

In a major development, mineral and transport businessman Suryakant Tiwari has reportedly surrendered himself in the district court here in the state capital on Saturday to avoid ED arrest. The local court has sent Tiwari on 12-day custody of the ED.
Tiwari is believed to have surrendered in the court of A S Rajput. He had covered his face at the time of surrender, so it was difficult to identify. Later, when he surrendered himself, there was uproar in the Raipur court.
The ED had been looking for Suryakant Tiwari for many days. A first information report has also been registered against him in Bangalore, after which he was absconding. Tiwari’s name came up in the illegal mineral transport case in the state and after the ED’s raids there was information about his arrest but it could not happen. However, one of his relatives has been arrested from Raigarh district of Chhattisgarh.
The surrender of Tiwari has also sent a panic among many leaders of the ruling party and opposition and senior officials of the government. It is said that many secrets and names will come to fore if Tiwari is questioned. If ED turns tough on Tiwari, he might disclose many names. Tiwari has been sharing a very good rapport with many leaders of Congress and BJP.
