Governor Ramen Deka said on Monday that young people should not focus solely on securing jobs, but must also have the courage to transform their ideas into business enterprises.
Addressing the inauguration of the three-day Youth Innovation and Entrepreneurship Conclave 2026 at Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidyalaya (IGKV) in Raipur, the Governor noted that a good idea, backed by proper guidance and appropriate technology, can evolve into a successful startup and generate employment for others.
On the occasion, he inaugurated the Subhash Chandra Bose Biotechnology Incubation Centre established at the university campus.
Highlighting the potential for innovation in the state, Governor Deka stated that Chhattisgarh offers vast opportunities in agriculture, forest produce, food processing, millets, organic farming, animal husbandry, and tribal products.
He stressed that adopting new technologies and experiments in agriculture is essential to meet the food requirements of the growing population.
Achieving self-reliance in basic food production enables a state to focus effectively on other development sectors.
The Governor called for innovations that reduce input costs for farmers, enhance yield and quality, minimize crop losses, and secure better market prices.
Such solutions will empower farmers economically and make the agricultural sector competitive. He also emphasized promoting kitchen gardens and backyards (bari) to strengthen household finances.
Advising aspiring entrepreneurs, the Governor urged youth to conduct thorough market surveys to evaluate demand before launching startups. He remarked that along with hard work and training, strong management capability and financial understanding are critical for success.
Providing skill education alongside formal learning will help youth boost family incomes and contribute to economic growth.
