Raipur: Durg police arrested three persons and seized 260 psychotropic Alprazolam tablets worth ₹1.04 lakh during an operation near Hudco in Bhilainagar.
The police team also seized a car used in the crime and four mobile phones from the possession of the accused. Acting on a tip-off on 27 September, a team from Bhilainagar police station intercepted a car near the Ganesh pandal at Lal Maidan in Hudco. Upon searching the vehicle, officers recovered 33.8 grams of Alprazolam tablets.
The occupants failed to produce valid documents for the contraband. The arrested persons have been identified as Hemant Kumar Dewangan (31) of Mohannagar, Ashish Das (26) of Hudco, and Aman Singh (22) of Talpuri.
Police recovered 160 tablets from Dewangan, 50 tablets from Das, and 50 tablets from Singh. Bhilainagar police registered a case under Section 22(b) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
A local court sent all three accused to judicial custody. Sub-Inspector Bijendra Chandrakar led the police team during the operation.
