State sports awards: Chhattisgarh invites objections for interim list by August 23

The Sports and Youth Welfare Department of Chhattisgarh has released the provisional selection list of sportspersons for the State Sports Award Scheme 2025-26. The department has invited claims and objections regarding the provisional list from candidates until 23 August 2026. Department Director Tanuja Salam issued an official notification stating that candidates can submit their objections online through the official portal (https://sportsyw.cg.gov.in) during office hours. Applications received after the stipulated deadline will not be considered.
The interim list features selected candidates across several prestigious award categories, including the Shaheed Rajiv Pandey Award, Shaheed Kaushal Yadav Award, Veer Hanuman Singh Award, Shaheed Pankaj Vikram Samman, Shaheed Vinod Choube Samman, and the Chief Minister Trophy.
Key Award Selections (2025-26):
Shaheed Rajiv Pandey Award: Vikas Kumar (Bilaspur, Archery – 47 points), Kiran Pisda (Balod, Football – 37 points), and Dipanshi Netam (Durg, Fencing – 07 points) top the Olympic sports segment. Sujay Tamboli and Ayush Makhija (both Raipur, Badminton) have been selected jointly. Sanju Devi (Korba, Kabaddi – 277 points) leads non-Olympic sports, while Reema Rai (Sarangarh-Bilaigarh, Soft Tennis) and Misha Kumari (Durg, Netball) share joint selection. Lucky Yadav (Mahasamund, Para Athletics – 93 points) leads the Para Sports category.
Shaheed Kaushal Yadav Award: Divyanshu Dewangan (Raigarh, Shooting – 17 points) tops the Olympic group. Swapnil Pradhan (Raigarh, Wushu) and Bhumika Choudhary (Narayanpur, Wushu) share joint selection in non-Olympic sports. Nikhil Kumar Yadav (Baloda Bazar, Para Athletics – 31 points) leads Para Sports.
Veer Hanuman Singh Award: Ajay Deep Sarang (Raipur, Weightlifting – 124 points) has been named in the coach category.
Shaheed Pankaj Vikram Samman: Seventeen sportspersons across disciplines, including Sanskar Diwan (Durg, Wushu), Jhamita Sahu (Durg, Kho-Kho), Khushal Yadav (Rajnandgaon, Hockey), and Srikant Pandey (MCB, Para Judo), have been deemed eligible.
Shaheed Vinod Choube Samman: Gangeshwar (Durg, Athletics – 14 points) leads the selected list, followed by Khwaja Ahmad (Durg, Volleyball – 12 points) and Evan Kumar Jain (Raipur, Weightlifting – 07 points).
Chief Minister Trophy: Chandni Sahu, Sulochana Raj, Payal Maravi, Maya, and coach Itwari Raj have been selected for Senior Women’s Archery. A 10-member team led by Purnima Phanikar has been selected for Junior Girls’ Soft Tennis.
