Interstate drug peddler arrested with 16 kg cannabis in Raipur

RAIPUR: Gudhiyari Police arrested an interstate cannabis smuggler outside Railway Platform No. 7 and seized 16 kg of cannabis worth ₹8.1 lakh, officials said.

DCP North Zone Deepmala Kashyap directed officials to intensify action against illegal narcotics trafficking and trade in the region. ACP Urla Poornima Lamba and Additional DCP North Zone Aditya Pandey directed the team to verify the tip-off.

Acting on information received on Friday, a team led by Gudhiyari SHO Inspector Narendra Sahu intercepted a suspect near the platform parking area.

The accused was identified as Golu Singh (24), a resident of Sundardehi village in Jabalpur district, Madhya Pradesh.

Police recovered 16 kg of cannabis and a mobile phone allegedly used in the smuggling operation from his possession.

A case has been registered against Singh under Section 20(B) of the NDPS Act at Gudhiyari Police Station. Several police personnel were part of the operation.
