The Chhattisgarh Education Department on Saturday issued transfer orders for 700 school teachers across the state, putting an end to a long wait. The department held back the transfer of around 400 teachers from the initial list following multi-tier reviews to ensure academic activities remain unaffected.
The department adopted strict guidelines to safeguard student interests and preserve teaching arrangements in government schools. Teachers affected by rationalisation, those posted in single-teacher schools, or those whose relocation would leave a school without any faculty were excluded from the final transfer list.
Requests for transfers from notified to non-notified areas and relocations from schools with high student enrolment were also put on hold. Departmental officials stated that no transfer would be permitted if it created a shortage of teaching staff or disrupted classroom learning.
Meanwhile, the education department is deliberating on implementing a technology-based online system for future teacher transfers to ensure clear processes. Under the proposed model, teachers can submit applications directly through a designated web portal. The system aims to simplify document verification, track application status digitally, and speed up grievance redressal.
Department officials are currently studying online transfer models operating in other states. A final decision will be taken at the government level after examining the technical and administrative feasibility of the portal. Order copies for the 700 selected teachers have been dispatched to the respective district offices.
