Bilaspur Municipal Corporation demolishes illegal structure in Swarna Jayanti Colony

Bilaspur: Bilaspur Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Saturday demolished an unauthorized structure under construction in Swarna Jayanti Colony following directives from Municipal Commissioner Prakash Kumar Sarve.

The property owner, Anoop Singh Thakur, son of late Kartik Singh Thakur, was constructing a building in the colony. Official inspections revealed that the ongoing construction violated the building permit and sanctioned plan issued on 9 December 2025.

BMC had previously issued notices to the property owner on 9 April 2026 and 26 May 2026, directing him to submit a response and align the construction with the approved specifications. Officials proceeded with the demolition using heavy machinery after the owner failed to provide a satisfactory response and continued the illegal work.

Personnel from the municipal building branch, anti-encroachment squad and local police were present during the operation.

Municipal Commissioner Prakash Kumar Sarve instructed officials to maintain continuous surveillance on unauthorized structures across the city and take strict action against violators who fail to comply with official notices.
