
Raipur: Four people, including two women and two young girls, were killed on the spot after the scooter they were travelling on rammed into a stationary tractor on National Highway-53 under the Kumhari Police Station limits on Thursday morning. A one-year-old child, who was also on the scooter, sustained injuries and was admitted to a hospital.
According to police, all five occupants were travelling from Durg to Raipur when the speeding scooter crashed into the tractor parked on the roadside.
Eyewitnesses said the impact of the collision was so severe that four occupants died instantly. The accident triggered panic in the area, with local residents rushing to the spot before alerting the police.
A police team reached the scene soon after receiving information about the accident. The injured child was shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment, while the bodies were sent for post-mortem after the inquest proceedings.
Police said efforts were underway to establish the identities of the deceased. A case has been registered, and further investigation is in progress to ascertain the circumstances leading to the accident.
