Three Interstate Cannabis Smugglers Arrested in Raipur, 10.226 kg Ganja Worth ₹5.12 Lakh Seized

Raipur: The Tikrapara Police arrested three interstate drug peddlers near the Bhathagaon Maidan Bus Stand and seized 10.226 kg of cannabis (ganja), officials said on Sunday.
The police also recovered two mobile phones from the possession of the accused. The total value of the seized contraband and other items is estimated at ₹5.12 lakh.
The arrests followed a tip-off received by the Tikrapara police on 11 July regarding individuals carrying illegal cannabis near the bus stand with the intention of selling it. Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Sandeep Kumar Patel directed the local police station team to verify the intelligence and take immediate action.
Acting on the information, a police team cordoned off the area near the Bhathagaon Maidan Bus Stand and detained three suspects. During the search of their bags, officers recovered 10.226 kg of ganja.
The arrested accused were identified as Kapil Kataria (26), a resident of Panipat, Haryana; Mahesh Dubey (32), a resident of Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh; and Neeraj Sharma (25), a resident of Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh.
The police registered a case against the trio under Section 20(b) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Investigators are now interrogating the accused to trace the forward and backward supply chain of the interstate drug network.
