Raigarh Police have intensified their investigation into a case involving sedition, harassment, and promoting enmity, with accused Wasim Mohammad being questioned on a production warrant. He is alleged to have taught anti-India slogans to a minor boy.
Acting on the directions of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shashi Mohan Singh, the investigation is being led by Pussore Police Station in-charge Inspector Harshvardhan Singh Bais under the supervision of DSP Unnati Thakur.
The case originated from a written complaint filed by a woman at the Raigarh Women’s Police Station on 29 May 2026. The complainant alleged that Wasim Mohammad subjected her to physical and mental harassment and forced her minor son to learn anti-India slogans. A video of the incident later surfaced on social media.
Police registered FIR No. 52/2026 under Sections 85, 351, 152, and 197 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with Section 4 of the Chhattisgarh Freedom of Religion Act, 1968.
The 43-year-old accused, a resident of Jogidipa, was already lodged in Raigarh District Jail. He had earlier been arrested by City Kotwali Police on 25 May 2026 after 6 kg of cannabis (ganja) was allegedly recovered from his possession under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
During the investigation, Inspector Harshvardhan Singh Bais obtained a one-day production warrant from the local court and took the accused into custody for questioning. The police team also took him to the crime scene for scene reconstruction and inspection. During the visit, the accused reportedly raised pro-India and anti-Pakistan slogans.
After the remand period ended, police produced him before the court, which remanded him to judicial custody.
SSP Shashi Mohan Singh said Raigarh Police are committed to taking strict legal action, based on evidence, against anyone involved in anti-national activities, crimes against women, or acts that disrupt social harmony.
