SSP Poses as Distressed Caller to Test Dial-112 Response in Midnight Surprise Inspection

Mungeli Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Bhojram Patel conducted a surprise late-night inspection on Friday to test the response time and efficiency of the Dial-112 emergency service in the district. To personally verify the ground reality, the top cop posed as a distressed caller to report mock accidents.
At 11.38 pm, Patel reached Kodwabani village, situated at the intersection of Jarhagaon, Lalpur, and City Kotwali police station limits. He placed a call to Dial-112, reporting a road accident and claiming a crowd had gathered at the spot.
The Dial-112 control room responded within three minutes of the call, informing the caller that a team would reach the location within 15 to 20 minutes. The control room sent a follow-up dispatch notification at 11.44 pm.
The emergency vehicle arrived at the scene in Kodwabani village within 22 minutes. Patel then boarded the vehicle to review the logged data on the screen and monitored the operational procedures of the personnel. He issued instructions to the on-duty staff, including Constable Sunil Khande.
Later, at 1.10 am, the emergency network received another accident report from the Mungeli bus stand. Patel boarded the responding Dial-112 vehicle to travel to the location, arriving at the scene at 1.20 am to assess the situation. He also inspected the response of the 108 Ambulance service, which arrived shortly after. During this inspection, the SSP found the Dial-112 vehicle driver without the prescribed dress code and ordered him to wear the official uniform strictly while on duty.
Following the inspections, Patel directed the emergency staff to ensure immediate and effective responses to distress calls regarding women’s safety, road mishaps, and other law-and-order emergencies. He instructed the personnel to initiate prompt legal action upon reaching crime scenes and called for sensitive, polite behaviour during public interactions to strengthen community policing.
