Heavy rains likely in Chhattisgarh, CM Baghel directs district collectors, superintendents of police and urban bodies to be on alert

Raipur: In the wake of moderate to heavy rains lashing Chhattisgarh, chief minister Bhupesh Baghel on Saturday directed all district collectors, superintendents of police and urban bodies to be on alert besides asking to make foolproof arrangements for disaster management arising due to heavy rains. In Chhattisgarh, heavy rainfall is likely to occur at few places and very heavy rainfall is likely to occur at one or two places in the districts of all remaining divisions except Surguja due to cyclonic effect, said IMD officials.The Chief Minister has asked all the authorities concerned to strengthen its preparedness for all possible disasters and handling any adverse situation caused by waterlogging and flooding. Necessary preparations should be made for the rescue and relief in such adverse situations.The Chief Minister has given instructions to keep the disaster management team ready in low-lying and flood prone areas. He said that all necessary help should be provided to the affected immediately, if required. He has also asked to continuously monitor the water level of rivers and drains and provide information about the same to the control room. The Chief Minister has asked the district collectors to ensure arrangements of temporary relief camps in the nearby buildings in the flood affected areas. The Chief Minister has also asked the State Disaster Response Force and the officials of District Police Force, Home Guard, Revenue Department, Health Department, Public Health Engineering, Electricity Department, Public Works, Food Department and urban bodies of the affected districts to be on alert.
