Two Gangrape Accused Surrender in Durg Court

Raipur
Two absconding accused in a minor’s gangrape case surrendered before a local court in Durg on Friday. One of the accused, B N Pandey, is a former personal assistant to the Durg Member of Parliament.
The victim alleged that Pandey promised her a job in the Public Works Department (PWD) and later coerced her into sending private videos on WhatsApp. He allegedly used these videos to blackmail and sexually assault her for nearly eight years.
The second accused, Sanjay Pandit, is accused of managing hotel stay arrangements. He allegedly raped the girl by threatening to have her removed from her job.
Police Pressure Leads to Surrender
The Durg police had already arrested four other accused in the case. Additional Superintendent of Police Mani Shankar Chandra stated that the remaining two suspects were absconding for a long time.
“Police were conducting raids at various locations to apprehend them. Continuous pressure and active police movement forced the duo to surrender in court,” ASP Chandra said.
With these two surrenders, all six accused in the gangrape case are now in custody. Police are moving the court to seek their remand for detailed interrogation. Investigating officers aim to probe all aspects of the crime and collect further evidence based on the statements of the accused.
