Raipur
A 21-year-old man was stabbed to death and his friend critically injured following a violent clash during a liquor party in the Telibandha police station area late on Sunday night. Police have arrested four persons in connection with the incident, while one suspect remains at large.
The deceased has been identified as Aditya Kurre, a resident of Bhanpuri. His friend, Abhay Sarthi (20), a resident of Kashiram Nagar, sustained serious injuries and is undergoing treatment at a local hospital.
According to the police, the incident occurred around 10 pm in the Shyam Nagar locality. Aditya and Abhay had gone to meet their acquaintances—Lokesh Vishwakarma, Rajat Daudia, Anuj Yadav, Akash Vishwakarma, and Divyansh Dhruv. The group was consuming alcohol together near a street bonfire when an argument broke out over a previous dispute.
The altercation escalated into a fight for dominance. Lokesh, Rajat, Akash, and Divyansh allegedly surrounded Aditya and Abhay, attacking them repeatedly with knives. Aditya died on the spot due to the severity of his wounds.
CCTV footage from the area shows the accused chasing the victims before the fatal attack. The cameras also captured the five suspects fleeing the scene immediately after the crime.
Local residents who reached the spot after hearing the commotion found the street covered in blood and alerted the police. Officers recovered slippers, cigarette packets, and signs of a struggle from the site.
The Telibandha police moved quickly to apprehend four of the accused—Lokesh, Rajat, Anuj, and Akash. All the accused are reportedly under the age of 25 and have prior criminal records.
Police said they have arrested four persons based on technical investigations and inputs from informants. One accused, Divyansh Dhruv, is currently absconding, and teams are working to track him down.
