Accident at Raipur Steel Plant Kills Six Workers

Six workers died and six others were injured after a piece of hot iron fell on them at a private steel factory in Siltara, Raipur, on Friday. Two of the injured workers are in serious condition.

The injured were immediately taken to a private hospital in Devendra Nagar for treatment. The incident occurred under the Dharsiwa police station limits.

Sources suggest the death toll might increase. Police reached the site soon after the accident and began rescue operations.

According to sources, the accident happened during maintenance work at the plant. Employees from several states, including Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Andhra Pradesh, were working at the factory. Sharma said he met five of the injured who are now stable, although some sustained serious injuries.

Senior police officials, along with the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) and the Station House Officer (SHO), are currently inside the private steel plant. A large crowd of local residents and family members of the deceased have surrounded the facility. Reports indicate the factory is currently under construction.
