NTPC Deputy GM Arrested for Taking Bribe in Raigarh

Raipur – The Deputy General Manager (DGM) of NTPC’s Raikera-Gharghoda office was on Tuesday arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) for allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹4.5 lakh. The accused, identified as Vijay Dubey, was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe.
The ACB’s Bilaspur unit had received a complaint from Saudagar Gupta, a resident of Tilaipali village in Tamnar, Raigarh district. Gupta had stated that his house, located on land acquired by NTPC, was partitioned among him and his two sons. While they had received compensation for the land and house, an additional ₹30 lakh was due to his sons as rehabilitation funds.
According to the complaint, ₹14 lakh had been released, but Dubey demanded a bribe of ₹5 lakh to facilitate the payment of the remaining ₹16 lakh. Gupta had already paid ₹50,000 as an advance.
Gupta did not wish to pay the bribe and instead wanted to get the accused arrested. Following a verification of the complaint, the ACB set up a trap on Tuesday. Dubey was caught accepting a bribe of ₹4.5 lakh from the complainant near a petrol pump.
The accused has been arrested and a case has been registered against him under the provisions of Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (as amended in 2018).
