Maoists kill two ‘Shikshaduts,’ one youth in three days

RAIPUR

Maoists have killed two ‘Shikshaduts’ (education volunteers) and a youth in the last three days in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district. The latest victim, identified as Kallu Tati, was abducted and killed with a sharp weapon. The incident took place in the Gangalur police station area.

Tati, a resident of Todka village, worked as a ‘Shikshadut’ in Nendra village. He was on his way home from school on Friday evening when the Maoists abducted him. The assailants accused him of being a police informer and then killed him late at night.

This is the third such killing in the last three days. Previously, the Maoists had killed Suresh Korsa in Mankeli on Thursday night, and two days ago, they had killed Laxman Badse, also a ‘Shikshadut,’ on the Bijapur-Sukma border.

Nine ‘Shikshaduts’ have been killed by Maoists this year, including five in Bijapur and four in Sukma district. In all the cases, the victims were accused of being police informers. The police have launched an investigation into the latest incident.
