The Sports and Youth Welfare Department has released an interim list of 76 sportspersons and dignitaries eligible for the State Sports Awards.
The department had received a total of 403 applications for seven awards, including the Shaheed Rajiv Pandey Award, over a period of two years. Of these, 164 applications were for the year 2023-24, and 239 were for 2024-25.
Following a review of the applications, the department announced the list of selected names on Saturday. Twelve senior-level medal-winning players have been chosen for the Shaheed Rajiv Pandey Award over the two years.
The department has invited objections and claims on the selected names until 27 August. The state-level selection committee will meet again to address these claims before releasing the final list of awardees.
Bhilai has the highest number of selected names on the sports award list with 22. This is followed by Durg with 12 names, and Raipur with 10.
