I-T swoop on at senior CMO offical’s residence

Raipur: On complaints of disproportionate assets, Income Tax Department team from Delhi carried out survey at business establishments and traders in many cities of Chhattisgarh including Bilaspur.In a wee hour swoop on Thursday, Income Tax sleuths conducted searches at the residence of Deputy Secretary to the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, Soumya Chourasiya. The search operation by around half a dozen tax officials continued till filing this report. A large number of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) troopers were deployed during the search operation. It was learnt that the taxmen started the search at 4 am on Thursday and it was kept highly confidential till the search started. The Income Tax department officials scrutinised the documents since morning. No official was ready to say anything on this. Even the ruling Congress party in Chhattisgarh had kept mum.It is said that Soumya Chourasiya had come into limelight within a short span of time after Congress came to power in the state and she is close to many political bigwigs and has a stronghold say in the CMO. Soumya was accused of possessing assets disproportionate her income. It was also said that the Income Tax department teams conducted concurrent searches at different locations of Soumya Chourasiya in Chhattisgarh. However, the outcome of the search conducted by the I-T were disclosed till filing this report.Along with this, Income Tax search was going on at the houses of two advocates in Mahasamund. The reason behind the search could not be ascertained. It was said that the Income Tax team had come from Kolkata.Meanwhile, on complaints of disproportionate assets, Income Tax Department team from Delhi carried out survey at business establishments and traders in many cities of Chhattisgarh including Bilaspur. In cities like Bilaspur, Raipur, Mahasamund, Raigarh and , Korba, the Income Tax Department officials has started survey since Thursday morning.According to the information received, coal trader Hemant Jaiswal’s resident in Korba and Sanjay Jaiswal’s Amaltas Colony were being surveyed.Earlier this morning, I-T sleuths conducted search at Durpa Road in Korba in the presence of CRPF personnel. Sources said that Hemant Jaiswal’s house was being searched in connection with coal theft and his role in it. Jaiswal is a big coal trader in Korba district and he has a house in Mangla of Bilaspur. In the case of disproportionate assets, the Income Tax Department team conducted search at the residence of Jai Ambe Transport Operator of Raigarh around 5.30 am on Thursday, the house located in Ashirwad Puram Colony of Dhimrapur area. To be mentioned, Jai Ambe Transport is included in the list of top 5 transport companies in the district. The team of Income Tax Department was keeping an eye on the transactions and undeclared income of Rintu Singh, the operator of the said company for a long time. The taxmen started scrutinising the documents related to transactions. According to sources, Jai Ambe Transport Company operation has link with Congress p[arty. It is noteworthy that earlier this year, the Income Tax team raided the house of the manager of Sky Alloys Company at Sai Heritage, located next to Ashirwad Puram Colony. There is a stir among the local traders following the I-T action at Jai Ambe Transport Operator’s house.
