Raipur Police Seize Drugs Worth About Rs 1 Crore, Arrest Three Suppliers

Raipur — Police in Raipur have arrested three drug suppliers and seized illegal substances worth approximately Rs 1 crore. The arrests were made following a viral social media video showing a woman consuming drugs.

The accused, identified as Lavjeet Singh alias Bunty, Suvit Srivastava, and Ashwani Chandravanshi, were allegedly operating a drug syndicate in Raipur for the past eight months. According to police, they procured ‘chitta’ (heroin) from Delhi and Punjab and sold it to youngsters in the city. The police team, comprising personnel from the Tikrapara Police Station and the Anti-Crime and Cyber Unit (ACCU), seized 412.87 mg of chitta, three mobile phones, and a Creta car from the suspects.

The arrests came after police took cognisance of a video that went viral on social media, showing a woman consuming drugs. This prompted the Tikrapara police and ACCU to launch an investigation.

Sources said the accused were operating from multiple locations in the city, including Kamal Vihar and Mahavir Nagar. A police official said the accused bought the drugs at a low price and sold them to wealthy individuals for double the amount. A case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

Police officials said the investigation revealed the names of several other suppliers in Raipur, Punjab, and Delhi. They added that these individuals would be arrested soon. An official disclosure on the matter is expected from the Raipur Inspector General of Police.
