Chhattisgarh govt extends the deadline of Mahua Flower (dry) collection till May 31

Raipur: As per the directions of chief minister Bhupesh Baghel, the State Government has extended the deadline of Mahua flower (dry) procurement till May 31.

Baghel had reached Aawapalli village falling under Bijapur forest division on May 19 as a part of his meet-and-greet programme. The forest dwellers informed him that Mahua flower has been produced in large quantities in the current year and demanded to extend the collection period. Baghel had given instructions on the spot to extend the collection period of Mahua flower (dry) in the state. As per his instructions, the Chhattisgarh State Minor Forest Produce (Trading & Development) Co-operative Federation Limited issued an order extending the collection period of Mahua flower till May 31, which was earlier April 1 to April 30. The collection of minor forest produce is going on smoothly in the state under the guidance of forest and climate change minister Mohammad Akbar.

Chhattisgarh State Minor Forest Produce Association Managing Director Sanjay Shukla has directed all the Managing Directors and District Forest Produce Cooperative Union to ensure smooth and streamlined system for procurement of Mahua flower (dry) under their respective forest divisions. In addition, it has also been directed that it is necessary to transfer the due amount to the bank account of the Mahua flower (dry) collectors concerned. In this, all the groups and committees are prohibited from buying Mahua flower from any forest produce from traders.
