A shocking incident has surfaced from the Urla police station limits in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, where an e-rickshaw driver brutally murdered his mother and seriously injured his wife over a petty dispute.
According to police, the accused, Pradeep Dewangan (45), a resident of Nageshwar Nagar, demanded Rs 200 from his 70-year-old mother, Ganeshi Dewangan, to buy a dog.
When she refused, a heated argument ensued, during which Pradeep lost control and attacked his mother with a hammer, striking her on the head.
His wife, Rameshwari Dewangan (35), tried to intervene and save the elderly woman, but Pradeep turned on her as well, leaving her seriously injured.
Their 15-year-old son witnessed the horrifying scene and ran to seek help.
Ganeshi Dewangan was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
Rameshwari is currently undergoing treatment and is reported to be in stable condition.
Following the attack, Pradeep fled the scene. Police have launched a manhunt and are conducting raids at suspected locations.
Authorities noted that the accused was mentally unstable and had a history of erratic behavior.
The gruesome incident has sparked outrage and fear among local residents.
