Raipur Robbery Case: Insider Mastermind Revealed; Accomplice Friend and Wife Involved

Raipur

In a breakthrough in Raipur robbery case, it has been revealed that a close acquaintance of the victim is the mastermind behind the crime. He conspired with a friend and his wife to carry out the robbery. Police have apprehended nearly half a dozen suspects in connection with the incident.

According to sources, one of the accused, Sajid, is a resident of Nagpur and a close associate of the victim. He, along with his friend Rahul, a resident of Bhilai, and Rahul’s wife, executed the crime. After the robbery, the accused fled towards Amleshwar, Durg. They changed vehicles midway and then escaped to different cities.

The Velu family, the victims, is quite large, consisting of eight siblings. There was a dispute among family members regarding a piece of land that the family had sold. Some members were reportedly upset about the sale. As soon as the police learned of this, their suspicion fell on close acquaintances. The police have been continuously questioning all family members, keeping a close watch on their whereabouts during the incident and their activities before and after the robbery.

The robbery took place in broad daylight in Raipur on the day of the municipal elections. Within approximately 20 minutes, 65 lakh was stolen from a house in Anupam Nagar, under the Khamhardih police station area. The robbers, dressed in commando attire, entered the house and held the elderly residents at gunpoint. They even administered a fake injection to scare them. During the robbery, they shouted slogans and threatened to blow up the house with a bomb if anyone raised an alarm.

Five robbers, including a woman, were captured on CCTV cameras as they exited a car. The five individuals held Prema Velu (71), Rajni Velu (67), and Manohar Velu (70) hostage and committed the robbery. The three are siblings who live together and are unmarried.

The Velu family had recently sold their ancestral land. The 65 lakh rupees that were kept under the bed inside the house were stolen by the robbers. They also took jewelry from the cupboard. While fleeing, they locked the three elderly individuals inside a room. The elderly individuals eventually escaped through the back of the house and informed the neighbors and the police.

The Inspector General of Police, Raipur Range, will hold a press conference soon to disclose further details about the case.
