A bomb threat was received on a flight traveling from Bilaspur to Delhi. Following the alarming news, the passengers were swiftly evacuated, after which the aircraft underwent a thorough inspection, revealing the threat to be a mere rumor. During this incident, a sense of panic and unease pervaded among the passengers.
According to reports, flight number 91763, originating from Kolkata, arrived in Bilaspur at 3:30 pm and was scheduled to depart for Delhi. On Thursday, a total of 85 flights received similar threats, one of which was investigated in Bilaspur. Upon landing, the plane was directed to an isolated bay, and all passengers were promptly disembarked and escorted to the terminal building.
Media sources indicate that the affected flights include 20 from Air India, 20 from Indigo, 20 from Vistara, and 25 from Akasa. The X ID of Bilasa Devi Kevatin Airport also received threatening communications. Upon receiving information about the threat, airport authorities immediately grounded the Kolkata flight. The bomb squad swiftly arrived at the scene in response to the news.
Collector Awanish Kumar Sharan and SP Rajnesh Singh also reached the airport with security personnel upon being informed of the incident. Alongside the bomb squad, the fire brigade team was summoned to the airport. It is reported that when the security team instructed passengers to disembark for investigation, a sense of panic ensued among them. However, after a thorough examination of the flight and receiving an all-clear report, the aircraft was permitted to depart.
It is understood that the comprehensive investigation consumed a significant amount of time. Consequently, the flight, originally scheduled to travel from Bilaspur to Delhi via Prayagraj, proceeded directly to Delhi, as the aircraft is not permitted to land in Prayagraj after sunset.
