Chhattisgarh’s CREDA Receives Star Performance Award for Remarkable Energy Conservation Achievements
Raipur: Chhattisgarh State Renewable Energy Development Agency (CREDA) has once again proven its excellence in energy conservation by clinching the prestigious Star Performance Award at the 8th National Energy Management Awards ceremony in New Delhi. This remarkable achievement marks the third consecutive year that CREDA has been honored for its outstanding contributions to the field.
Under the visionary leadership of Chief Executive Officer Alok Katiyar, CREDA has undertaken various initiatives to raise awareness about energy conservation and promote the use of energy-efficient appliances. Notably, 77 villages have been transformed into model energy-efficient villages, while 56 health centers and 376 government schools have been developed as model energy-efficient facilities.
These efforts have extended to the agricultural sector, where CREDA has conducted informative workshops for farmers, educating them on the advantages of energy-efficient pumps to save both energy and money. Furthermore, CREDA has been proactive in promoting energy conservation in government offices and institutions, with a strong focus on reducing electricity consumption.
Over the past 11 years, CREDA has made significant strides in energy conservation, with 44 industrial institutions in the state reducing carbon emissions by an impressive 6.67 million tonnes and saving 2.198 million tonnes of oil equivalent (MTO) of energy. These achievements have earned industries in the state over 10 lakh energy-saving certificates from the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), Government of India.
To augment energy conservation in the commercial and residential building sector, Chhattisgarh has implemented the Chhattisgarh Energy Conservation Building Code, resulting in 15 certified green buildings. The state government has also proposed star ratings for 8 government buildings.
Through relentless efforts and educational programs, CREDA aims to make buildings in the state more energy-efficient and raise awareness among students through Energy Clubs in schools. Their commitment to energy conservation continues to shine, contributing to a greener and more sustainable future for Chhattisgarh. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has congratulated CREDA for this remarkable achievement, applauding the team’s dedication and the state’s commitment to energy conservation.
