UNICEF and Counsel to Secure Justice join hands with Bilaspur Police for Nijaat Abhiyan

Raipur: Bilaspur Police’s “Nijaat Abhiyan” is aimed at keeping children and young people away from substance abuse and protecting them from the adverse effects of addiction. In this campaign, international organizations, UNICEF and Counsel to Secure Justice, have joined hands to work specifically for the children of the global community. Together, they will strive to bring offenders and addicted youth, especially children, out of the realm of crime and substance abuse and integrate them into mainstream society.

A one-day seminar was organized yesterday at the Prayer Hall in the city, with the presence of SP Santosh Singh, Additional SP Rajendra Jaiswal, Rahul Dev Sharma, Sandeep Kumar Patel, Pooja Kumar, C.D. Lahre, and the police station in-charges and staff members of the district, by UNICEF For Every Child and Counsel to Secure Justice organization. The seminar focused on providing information on the behavior of police officers and employees, legal procedures, and conducting workshops on how to keep children involved in criminal activities away from substance abuse. Discussions were held on the subject of keeping children involved in crime away from offenses through legal means.

In this meeting, members of UNICEF For Every Child and Counsel to Secure Justice organization, including Chetna Desai, Geetanjali Das Gupta, Nimisha Srivastava, Urvashi Tilak, Kuhu, and the team, were present. Under the collaborative participation of the Nijaat Abhiyan, today they visited the urban police stations of Civil Lines, Kotwali, Sarkanda, and Chakarbhatha in the district to gather information about children involved in substance abuse and crime, as well as to learn about the efforts being made by the police. They also discussed how to reintegrate them into mainstream society and the planning that has been done for this purpose.

In the near future, the next phase of workshops and training sessions will be organized in collaboration with other NGOs working for child welfare in the district, along with teachers from schools and colleges. The action plan will be implemented accordingly.
