Ratanpur Case: Investigation Reveals Negligence, Officer Suspended, Show-Cause Notice Issued
Dispatch News
Following the incident in Ratanpur, the Superintendent of Police (SP) in Bilaspur took prompt action by acknowledging the concerns raised in the memorandum from various organizations. Recognizing the gravity of the situation, the SP formed a team under the leadership of Additional Superintendent of Police Rahul Dev. Their objective was to conduct a thorough investigation into the facts and events surrounding the case. The investigation report, compiled by the team, was submitted to the Superintendent of Police yesterday.
Today, as part of the bail application filed in court, the investigation report (prepared by the case investigator) was presented. This report included the investigation points raised by the Additional Superintendent of Police, which supported the grant of bail to the suspects involved in the case. The prosecution counsel representing the police informed the court that during the investigation, inconsistencies were found in the applicant’s allegations. The police did not oppose the granting of bail. Since the matter is still before the court, detailed information about the investigation cannot be disclosed, at this time.
The investigation revealed negligence on the part of Krishnakant Singh, the TI (Town Inspector) of Ratanpur at the time. Based on the report, the Superintendent of Police has suspended Krishnakant Singh from duty.
Moreover, as soon as the inquiry was initiated, Krishnakant Singh was held accountable. Additionally, a show-cause notice is being issued by the Superintendent of Police to SDOP (Sub-Divisional Officer of Police) Siddharth Baghel, who was at the police station during the incident. This notice is being issued due to the failure of SDOP to provide senior officers with complete information about the incident.
