Janjgir-Champa is the leading district in terms of providing Household tap connections in the state

Raipur: The state government is undertaking extensive efforts to ensure access to clean drinking water in rural areas with the ‘Jal Jeevan Mission.’ As part of this initiative, free household tap connections have been provided to a total of 22, 40, 711 families. Along with this, pure drinking water is also being supplied through taps in 43,942 schools, 41,676 Anganwadi centers, and 17,289 gram panchayat buildings and community sub-health centers of the state.

Janjgir-Champa, being the leading district, has successfully provided household tap connections to a total of 195,387 rural families.

The Jal Jeevan Mission has benefitted numerous families of the state by providing an average of 55 liters of water per person daily. An action plan has also been prepared for the expeditious implementation of the scheme in all the districts of the state. The monitoring and the grass root level implementation of this scheme is being seen by the Secretary, Public Health Engineering Dr. S. Bharathidasan and Jal Jeevan Mission Director Alok Katiyar.

Under the Jal Jeevan Mission, household tap connections have been provided to 1 lakh 59 thousand 708 families of  Rajnandgaon district, 1 lakh 30 thousand 123 tap connections have been provided in Raipur district, 1 lakh 26 thousand 153 in Raigarh district, 1 lakh 19 thousand 022 in Dhamtari district, 1 lakh 9 thousand 568 in Balodabazar-Bhatapara, 1 lakh 7 thousand 100 in Mahasamund district, 1 lakh 4 thousand 725 in Kawardha, 97 thousand 237 in Durg, 94 thousand 880 in Bilaspur district and 94 thousand 654 in Bemetara district. Similarly, 88 thousand 978 in Balod, 88 thousand 606 in Mungeli, 75 thousand 915 in Gariaband, 65 thousand 156 in Jashpur, 62 thousand 253 in Surguja district, 62 thousand 007 in Balrampur,  61 thousand 030 in Kanker , 60 thousand 542 in Bastar, 59 thousand 586 in Korba, 57 thousand 937 in Surajpur , 56 thousand 383 in Korea , 55 thousand 450 in Kondagaon , 22 thousand 317 in Bijapur , 23 thousand 376 Sukma , 22 thousand 278 in Gorela-Pendra-Marwahi , 20 thousand 727 in Dantewada and household tap connections have been provided to14 thousand 613 rural families of Narayanpur district.
